The Best Time to Schedule Newborn Photos - Chico Baby Photographer

When Should I Schedule Newborn Photos?

For lifestyle newborn photographer that I offer, I suggest taking photos within the 10 day window of bringing your baby home. At that age, most babies stay asleep longer, don’t mind being in less clothes like a onesie, are typically on a feeding schedule set to every two hours, and free of baby acne. At the 10 day mark, babies typically go through a growth spurt where they are more awake and wanting to feed.

Congratulations on this new exciting season you and your family are entering into. There can be a lot of firsts, unknown questions when it comes to newborn photography. If you know for sure you want to have a home lifestyle newborn photo session, I highly suggest reaching out before your baby is born. Many newborn photographers book up months in advance. Contacting a photographer way before allows you to rest assured this sweet season will be captured. You don’t have to frantically contact every newborn photographer you know seeing if they have an openings. After bringing your sweet baby home, you’ll want to relax and not worry about scheduling one extra thing. Take care of that in advance. For newborn photography, I always pencil in a potential date for the photo session and adjust accordingly once your baby is here.

We have a very relaxed lifestyle approach to newborn photography. We can always take photos after that timeframe if needed.

We still have a hand full of openings here in Chico for newborn photos. Don’t hesitate to reach out and send me an email here.
